As explained above, according to the present invention, the object to be connected, such as a flat cable, is fixed to one of the two opposing surfaces in the U-shaped housing, and the suppressing means is fixed to the other surface. By simply inserting one end of a connecting object such as a display panel into the gap that gradually extends toward the open end of the housing formed between the connecting conductor part of the connecting object and the connected conductor of the connected object. The connecting conductor part and the conductor part to be connected can be connected by simply pulling out the connecting object from the housing against the pressing force of the suppressing means. Since the connectors are untied, connection and disconnection operations can be performed easily and accurately, connecting objects can be attached, detached and replaced freely, and the number of component parts is small, making it possible to provide this type of connector at low cost.
