Abstract

PURPOSE:To output program guidance and preview information on a picture tube or/ and a printer at every viewer's request, by sending a conventional video and sound broadcast and the program guidance and preview information to a television receiver within the same frequency band. CONSTITUTION:A broadcasting station transmits program information to viewers, e.g. (1) a data, starting time, and ending time, (2) a program name, (3) program contents, etc., in the form of a digital signal by superposing it upon a subchannel or a main channel signal. Thus sent program information is separated into a subchannel signal 5' and a main channel signal. The subchannel signal 5' is converted in a digital signal by a demodulator 11 and stored in a register 12 temporarily to be recognized as one program information data sent from the broadcasting station, and this data is stored in a data memory. A display memory 16, on the other hand, is stored with patterns of Chinese characters, alphabets, numbers, etc., stored in a data memory 13 in code form and the contents of the data memory 13 are displayed as a video.
