Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten the material working process of a connecting rod and enable its mass production, by coupling the body and large-end bearing housing section of the connecting rod to each other through a conjoining part provided with incisions, when casting of forging the connecting rod. CONSTITUTION:When a semimanufactured connecting rod A is cast or forged, its body 1 and bearing housing section 2 are coupled to each other by a conjoining part 3. The conjoining part is provided with incisions 3a extending from both the end faces of the connecting rod A. The rod A is pinch-held on the both the end faces of the body 1 by a vise and the bearing housing section 2 is hit hard by a hammer from the side of the incisions 3 to the other side so that the conjoining part 3 is broken off at the incisions. After that, a wrist pin hole and a crankpin hole are machined. According to this constitution, the manufacturing process of the connecting rod is simplified, its machining is reduced and its mass production is enabled.
