Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the reciprocal recording/reproducing and to reduce the damage of a tape due to a rotary head, by winding a tape around a guide drum so that the rotary head performs a scan from the center part in the width direction toward a terminal part of the tape. CONSTITUTION:A guide drum 1 consists of upper and lower fixed drums 1A and 1B and a rotary drum 1C put between drums 1A and 1B. The lower drum 1B has a lead part 3 having a winding tilt angle of a tape as a difference of level. Therefore the tape 2 is shifted to move up gradually toward an arrow 4. As a result, rotary heads HA and HB perform scans from the center part toward a terminal part of the tape 2. Therefore regions I and II are scanned toward arrows 5A and 5B by shifting the tape 2 with upper and lower edges of the tape inverted to each other in the tape width direction. Thus, the reciprocal recording and reproducing are enabled. Furthermore the damage of the tape is reduced since the scan is carried out by the rotary head from the center part of the tape.

巻き付けられるから、第4図からも明らかなように、ヘ
ッドHム、HBがテープ(2)K対接し始める部分では
、空気は全てテープ(2)とドラム(1)との間のエア
ーフィルム層Klれ込み、テープ(2)がこの部分で振
動するようなことはなく、安定ナヘッドタッチとなる。
