Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the failure of a guide plate for sheet material mounted on a lower housing side or the like in the stage of closing the upper housing in an image forming device wherein a body is opened and closed to the upper housing and a lower housing around a supporting shaft by providing a detaining member with which one or both of the guide plate or a paper discharge tray detains on the outer side in the opening and closing locus of the upper housing. CONSTITUTION:A discharge tray 13 is in a position (a) in proximity to the upper housing wall of a body while not in use, and is moved from the position (a) to the position (b) where the tray receives transfer paper P when the copying machine is to be used. An upper housing 16 draws the locus of an arc (c) during opening or closing. The tray 13 is detained by a stopper 19 so as to stop always in the position (a) on the outside of the arc (c) and not to enter the inside thereof.
