A gear transmission with a structure in which the input shaft, which receives a thrust load in one direction due to the meshing rotation of a pair of input gears, is rotatably supported by ball bearings against the front wall of the transmission case and the center of the end face of the crankshaft. A cylinder is formed inside the crankshaft into which lubricating oil pressure of the engine is introduced, and the lubricating oil pressure is used to counter the thrust load generated by the meshing of the input gear pair against the end surface of the input shaft. A support structure for an input shaft for a gear transmission, characterized in that it is provided with a piston that applies a load in the direction of the gear transmission.
