Abstract

PURPOSE:To form the phosphor screen above-captioned which is able to prevent a drop of brightness of green-and-blue phosphor substance by a method, wherein, after forming a phosphor film, simultaneously with, or before wherein a water film, the phosphor film is treated with a solution containing colloidal silica. CONSTITUTION:A photoadhesive substance mainly comprising a diazocompound is applied to the inside of a panel to be exposed after mounting a color selective electrode like a shadow mask. Said shadow mask is then removed and a phosphor substance is stuck on a cohesive part. Further the phosphor substance given to an unexposed part is removed by developing. By repeating said process a phosphor film is formed inside of the panel. Thereafter said phosphor film is treated and washed with a water solution comprising a high molecular cohesive agent and a surface-active agent, then a phosphor screen is completed through the filming and alminizing process, whereby the phosphor film is treated with a liquid containing colloidal silica simultaneously with or before the formation of a water film in the filming.

An example of this method is to first apply a photo-adhesive substance to the inner surface of the panel. As such a substance, a composition containing a double salt of a diazo compound and zinc chloride as a main component, and a polymer compound or a surfactant added thereto is generally used. Next, a color selection electrode such as a shadow mask is attached to the panel, and after exposing the phosphor pixel forming portion of the first color, for example, green light, on the exposure table, the shadow mask is removed. Apply green-emitting phosphor powder to the inner surface of the panel and apply it to areas that have become sticky due to exposure! Attach the i & phosphor. Next, development is performed using an air blower or the like to remove excess phosphor powder that has been applied to unexposed areas, thereby forming phosphor picture elements of the first color. By repeating the above-mentioned process of exposure and subsequent steps for the other two colors, blue and red, three-color phosphor picture elements are completed. Thereafter, it is treated and washed with an aqueous solution containing a polymer flocculant and a surfactant, and then undergoes a fill-electron aluminization process to complete a fluorescent surface.

The reason why the brightness of the green and blue phosphors is prevented from decreasing by treating the colloidal silica with a solution is not necessarily clear, but the following may be considered. In other words, the brightness decrease in green and blue phosphors is due to the fact that zinc sulfide, which is their base material, undergoes thermal oxidation in the post-process baking and exhaust process 1, causing a part of the surface to change in quality. As a result, it is thought that this is because a thin filter substance is generated and blocks the light emission. On the other hand, when colloidal silica is added, the above-mentioned surface deterioration is suppressed, so it is thought that a decrease in brightness can be prevented. It has been confirmed that similar effects can be obtained with silicates such as potassium silicate in addition to colloidal silica, but in this case, the hydrogen ion concentration of the solution containing the silicate is high. This has the disadvantage that the phosphor easily peels off.

The appropriate concentration of colloidal silica to be used is from 0.01% to less than 2%; if it is too low, the effect will be small, and if it is too high, the brightness will decrease due to absorption of the electron beam by the colloidal silica.
