Abstract

PURPOSE:To read parts near the binding margin of book-type originals without a strain to damage them, by making the original placing plate to have a roof- shaped form and installing a reading means to both slopes of the roof-shaped placing plate. CONSTITUTION:An original placing plate 1 having a roof-shaped form is installed on an original reader. When a book-type original 2 is read, the original 2 is put on the original placing plate 1 so that the original 2 is extended over the two slope portions 1a and 1b of the original placing plate 1. The slope portions 1a and 1b are composed of a transparent plate, such as glass plate, etc., and lighting light sources 4a and 4b, lenses 5a and 5b, and light-to-electric signal converting elements 6a and 6b are installed below the slope portions, respectively. The light sources 4a and 4b lighten the original 2 while they are moving and reflected lights from the original form images in the elements 6a and 6b through the lenses 5a and 5b to converte the images into electric signals.

Conventionally, this type of document reading device has a flat document placing table, and is configured to read the document by placing the document flat thereon. Therefore, when transmitting a book-shaped original by facsimile, for example, it is necessary to first copy the book-shaped original to create a sheet-shaped original and then transmit this by facsimile. There are also models that can directly handle book-type originals, but because the original table is configured in a horizontal plane,
When using a book as a manuscript, the book must be opened wide and pressed firmly from the top, which can easily damage the book. The letters may become distorted. The same thing can be said when a book-shaped original is read by a copying machine.

The present invention eliminates the drawbacks of the conventional document reading device as described above, and when reading a book-shaped document, it is possible to read the document without damaging the book. The purpose of the present invention is to provide a document reading device that can read documents without distortion, and the document mounting table has a chevron shape, and both of the diagonally raised document portions of the document table can be read at the same time or each document portion can be read separately. It is characterized by being provided with a reading means for reading.

The document reading device according to the present invention is applicable not only to reading book-type documents but also to reading book-type documents. Such an embodiment is shown in FIG. Figure 6 (,)
6 is a perspective view of the document mounting table, and FIG. 6(b) is an end view thereof. In this embodiment, a document presser 8 similar to the one shown in FIG. 2 is provided on the sloped portion 1b of the document table 1 having a chevron shape, and a support 9 is provided to support the sheet document so that it does not slide down. provided. As shown in FIG. 6(a), the original document holder 8 can be rotated between an upright position as shown at 8' and a position in which the original is held down on the slope (6) portion 1b. When placing the sheet I/original IO on the document platform 1, the support 9 prevents the sheet I/original 10 from slipping off, and the document holder 8 holds the sheet I/original 10 on the slope portion lb of the table 1. Keep a dense layer on top. The original reading optical system is the same as that described above.
