In an engine cylinder block in which the crankshaft is supported by a bulkhead at the bottom of the cylinder block and a bearing cap bolted to the bulkhead, the joints between the inner sides of the cylinder block skirts at both ends of the bulkhead are enlarged in the direction of the crankshaft.
