Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the wear resistance of the sliding surface of a magnetic head by filling plural grooves in the recording-medium sliding surface of a shield case which contains the magnetic head with resin containing added inorganic particulates harder than magnetic cores. CONSTITUTION:In the front surface (tape sliding surface) of the shield case 7 of the magnetic head, plural grooves are formed and filled with the resin 12 obtained by adding one kind among oxide, carbide, nitride, and boride of metal, and silicon compound to epoxy resin. Since the resin 12 containing inorganic particulates harder than magnetic cores 9 is used, the wear resistance of the sliding surface is improved.

FIG. 1 is a nine plan view showing the main parts of a tape cassette and a tape recorder. In FIG. 1, a magnetic tape 2 and a tape pad 3 are housed in a cassette case 6, and a magnetic head 1, a capstan 4, and a pinch 4-25 are components of a tape recorder.

The magnetic tape 2 is held between a capstan 4 and a pinch roller 5, runs in the direction of arrow P, and slides against the magnetic head l. Further, the magnetic tape 2 is pressed against the magnetic head IK by a tape pad 3. For this reason, the surface of the magnetic head that slides against the magnetic tape tends to wear out over time.

In general, the tape sliding surface of a magnetic head is formed by a magnetic core, a fixing material, and a shield case, or especially when the magnetic core and shield case are made of different materials (for example, the magnetic core is Sendust and the shield case is Permalloy). )
In this case, the amount of wear differs between the sliding surface of the magnetic core and the sliding surface of the shield case9, causing uneven wear. When uneven wear occurs, the contact between the magnetic core and the magnetic tape becomes unstable, which deteriorates the 4-magnetic conversion characteristics of the magnetic head, resulting in a disadvantage that the life of the head is shortened.

The present invention has been made to eliminate the above-mentioned drawbacks of the conventional technology, and it is designed to keep the tape sliding surface of the magnetic head flat and wear out according to the hardness of the material of the magnetic core. The abrasion resistance of the tape sliding surface of the shield case has been improved.

In other words, a groove is provided on the tape sliding surface of the shield case, and a resin containing particulate material as hard as or more than the magnetic core is placed therein. The present invention also provides a magnetic head that maintains its initial characteristics for a long period of time and has a long service life.

In the figure, 7, 8, and 9 are all made of a high magnetic permeability material, 7 is a shield case, 8 is a shielding plate, and 9 is a magnetic core. Reference numeral 10 indicates a magnetic gap formed between the abutting surfaces of the plurality of magnetic cores 9, and reference numeral 11 indicates a fixing member for adhering and fixing the blocking plate 8, the magnetic cores 9, etc. in the shield case 7. In addition, the same reference numerals are given to the same members in FIGS. 1 to 4.

The resin 12 is made by adding inorganic fine particles having a hardness equal to or higher than that of the bump 9, and is formed into a plurality of strips along the running direction of the magnetic tape 20, and is attached to the front surface of the shield case (tape sliding surface). The amount of wear of the magnetic core 9 is made to be approximately equal to the amount of wear of the magnetic core 9.

As the inorganic fine particles added to the resin 12, at least one type of metal oxygen compound, metal carbon compound, metal nitrogen compound, metal boron compound, metal silicon compound, etc. is used, and these are used, for example, in the epoxy resin. It is added in an appropriate amount. The number and width of the resin 12, as well as the type and amount of inorganic fine particles added to the resin, are adjusted depending on the material, hardness, and wear resistance of the magnetic core 9.

For example, when the magnetic core 9tC Sendust is used, the amount of inorganic fine particles added is greater than when permalloy is used for the magnetic core 9, and the amount of wear on the front surface of the shield case (tape sliding surface) is reduced. The amount of wear should be approximately equal to the amount of wear.
