Claims

[Scope of Claim for Utility Model Registration] A caliper is provided with a hydraulic cylinder part and a reaction part facing the hydraulic cylinder part to form a saddle shape, and straddles a disc rotor and a pair of friction pads arranged on both sides of the disc rotor. In a caliper floating type disc brake that is movable in a direction parallel to the axis of a rotor, an alarm is issued when an outer pad of the pair of friction pads, which is pressed against the disc rotor by the reaction part, has worn down to an allowable limit. The apparatus comprises: placing a metal piece on the caliper that contacts the disc rotor to emit an alarm sound and approaching the disc rotor based on the movement of the caliper due to wear of the outer pad, and causing the outer pad to reach an allowable limit. A pad wear indicator for a caliper floating type disc brake, characterized in that it is mounted at a position where it contacts the outermost circumference of the disc rotor when worn.
