Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure ignition of fuel of a gas lighter even under a strong wind and prevent the flame from being blown out thereby by a construction wherein the windshield of the lighter has a notch formed on a side surface thereof and the lower part of the notch swells out towards a nozzle thereby forming an upwardly directed draft passage. CONSTITUTION:A windshield 1 has a front wall 1C formed with a notch 1e, and the lower part of the notch 1e swells out towards a nozzle 6 thereby forming a draft passage within the windshield 1. When the lighter is clicked to flame, the combustion air flows through the air inlet port 1e and thence through the draft passage in the generally same direction as the flame of the lighter and into a flame nozzle 1d. At that time, the air flowining in the windshild through the air inlet port 1e is intercepted by the swelled part so that the air is not allowed to impinge directly against the nozzle 6. Therefore, a stable flame can be obtained and there is no anxiety of the flame being blown out even under a strong wind.
