In a dashpot for a carburetor throttle valve of an automobile engine, the interior of a casing is divided into a first chamber and a second chamber, and these two chambers are communicated with working fluid through a restrictor. a communication passage communicating with a chamber pressurized by rotation of the valve toward the closing side; a detection device for detecting operation of a speed change operating means of an automobile transmission; and a signal from the detection device to open the communication passage. A dashpot control device for a carburetor throttle valve, comprising a control valve for canceling the action of the dashpot.
