ス検出素子が示す電気抵抗値を取出す一対の電極と、こ
の一対の電極に電気的に接続された一対のリード線と、
このリード線および前記電極を挿通する一対の貫通孔を
有した耐熱電気絶縁性金属酸化物よりなる保持体と、こ
の保持体の外周囲に固定され取付部を有した金属ハウジ
ングと、このハウジングに設けられ前記保持体の一部な
らびに前記ガス検出素子を覆う多数の穴付き金属保護カ
バーとを具備し、前記ガス検出素子のうち前記一対の電
極間の検出ガス浸透距離に関係する厚みを０．１〜０．
