Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily and surely perform CM retrieving operation, by reading unified editing information from a tape on which CMs are unified, and by skipping the unified tape to a desired CM frame position based on the information. CONSTITUTION:CM frame information recorded on the front end of a tape, on which CMs are unified, of a VTR11 and unified editing information containing tape positions where each CM frame is located are read out and stored in a unified editing information storage device 111 of a controlling device 11. The device 11, in response to inputs through an automatic program editing device 12, a keyboard 13, etc., reads out corresponding information from the device 111 and reproduces a desired CM frame by skipping the tape on which CMs are unified. Thus the CM retrieving operation is performed easily and surely without using plural rolls of tapes and plural sets of VTRs.
