Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform reinforcement excellent in adhesion strength within a short period, when the strength of a thin steel sheet useful as an outside plate for a car or the like is improved, by bonding a soft uncured specified compound composition to the steel sheet with a photocuring adhesive composition, and then curing the composition by irradiation of light.
CONSTITUTION: As a car body is desired to be lightweight, a scarcity of strength occurs in the car body at the part where a thin steel sheet is used as an outside steel plate. In order to reinforce such a structure, a soft uncured compound composition comprising a reinforcing agent, e.g. glass fiber or aromatic polyamide fiber, impregnated with liquid prepared by adding a photosensitizer to a photocurable resin solution, e.g. eoxyvinyl ester resin or unsaturated polyester resin, is bonded to the part of the thin steel sheet lacking in strength with a photocurable adhesive composition prepared by adding a photosensitizer to a resin solution comprising epoxyvinyl ester resin and a polymerizable vinyl monomer. Thereafter, light is irradiate to the treated steel sheet to cure the resin. Thus, the thin steel sheet is reinforced within a short time.
