Abstract
PURPOSE:To correct the trapezoidal distortion on the screen by bringing the electron beam from a projection tube to the position departed from the center of the phosphor face by the predetermined distance while arranging the lens in correspondence to the distance of the beam movement. CONSTITUTION:A beam bender 10 is provided between an electron gun 9 and a deflection yoke 7 for producing the horizontal deflection field of pin-cushion shape and the vertical deflection field of barrel shape in a projection tube 1R, to bend the locus such that the electron beam 13 will reach to the position P shifted by the distance (d) from the center 0 of the phosphor face 11 even when the current is not flowing through the deflection yoke 7 thus to correspond the center of a lens 2R with point P on the phosphor face thus to produce the picture image on the screen. Consequently strong trapezoidal distortion can be produced on the phosphor face 11, thereby the trapezoidal distortion of the picture image produced on the screen can be corrected sufficiently without requiring the sub-deflection yoke or a trapezoidal distortion correcting circuit.
