Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain accurate coordinate data independently of slope of a position detector without effect of external dielectric substance, by recognizing the phase changing to coordinates from the vector component of a rotating magnetic field. CONSTITUTION:At a magnetic field generator 22, when AC signals phase-shifted sequentially are applied from AC signal sources 35-38 to a magnetic field generating coil, the magnetic field generated with coils 31-34 reacts with a position detector 23 on a flat plate plane 21. The tip of the detector 23 is continuously moved between x coordinates 30-39 on the plate, and analog electric signals from the detector 23 are applied to a processing unit. In this case, almost linear relation can be obtained between the phase theta and the x coordinate of the analog electric signals given to the processing unit, and the coordinate data among the coordinates 30-29 can continuously be taken from the processing unit. This results from the continuous forming of cylindrical rotating magnetic field on the flat plate.
