Abstract

PURPOSE: To assemble a carcass layer about a bead core without elongation thereof and breaking of fiber intervals by temporarily deforming it elastically to form a bead core on the inner surface of which the carcass layer is put tightly.
CONSTITUTION: Material is wrapped around a tire manufacturing drum to form a ring-shaped carcass layer 10. The drum is so arranged that the outer diameter thereof following the wrapping of the material is equal to the inner diameter of the bead core to be tight on the drum, and hence, the length of the exterial periphery of the carcass layer 10 is equal to that of the internal periphery of the bead core. Then, the area at the right and left ends of the carcass layer 10 is elastically deformed inwardly in the radial direction by reducing a part of drum component parts. Under such a condition, after the bead core 11 is set at a given position outside the carcass layer 10, a part of the drum component parts are expanded to release the elastic deformation thereof 10 whereby the carcass layer 10 can adhere to the inner surface of the bead core 11.
