Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound which is a synthetic raw material for glycine, etc. in high yield, by reacting trichloroethylene or/and tetrachloroethane with anhydrous ammonia.
CONSTITUTION: Trichloroethylene or tetrachloroethane or both are reacted with anhydrous ammonia in an excess molar amount of 10 times or more to give aminoacetonitrile. The reaction is carried out in the presence or absence of a catalyst, e.g. a hydroxide or chloride of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal, at 50W100°C, preferably 70W90°C.
