Abstract

PURPOSE: To optimize the starting end and finishing end of welding in an apparatus which can move in more than two directions by making a moving mechanism for one direction and that for other direction work together and thereby changing the distance from the object work to be welded.
CONSTITUTION: Moving distance, speed of X, Y axes transmission mechanisms 6, 8, position on X, Z axes of commanding unit 15 for shutter opening and closing and speed command RXP, RXS, RZP, RZS are inputted to arithmetic servo circuits 16, 16', and motors XM, XZ are rotated. Number of rotation of each motor and signals FX, FZ of speed detectors XS, ZS are fed back to change above-mentioned R command. When welding an object work 9 to be welded at a fixed focal length dO and by opening and closing of a shutter, RZP is fixed and RZS is zero, and poor welding occurs due to delay of action. Therefore, the best welding can be effected if delay in action is corrected by changing Z-axis position and speed with the movement of X-axis. Laser beam 2 is condensed by a lens in the mechanism 8 and the energy density applied to the work 7 is changed widely with the change of distance dO.
