Abstract
PURPOSE:To facilitate the correction of a position shift even after the whole module is replaced, by correcting the large position shift of a data head by providing an alignment track, wider than an ordinary track, to a disk. CONSTITUTION:When the address of a data head 8 in a shield module 5 is set in a head address register 21 by an instruction from a host device 19, pieces of information on alignment tracks 2 and 3 read by the head 8 are amplified by a readout amplifier 24 and inputted to an alignment signal demodulating circuit 25. At this time, the head 8 is not always position at an intermediate point between the alignment tracks 2 and 3. For this purpose, an alignment signal demodulating circuit 25 outputs a dipulse beta which corresponds to a couple of inverted magnetization pulses of the tracks 2 and 3, and a subtracting circuit 35 calculates and outputs a difference in peak value between the dipulse beta and a dipulse gamma as a DC voltage. This DC voltage is equivalent to the extent of the shift of the data head.
