Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent defective seaming due to slippage between a can cover and a can body by making a specified area of a seaming chuck rough surface in seaming the can cover to the can body.
CONSTITUTION: In case of secondary seaming, that which backs up the seaming part of a tin is an area A from the lip edge part 4a' to the corner part. Sand blasting or shot peening is applied to the part A to attain surface hardening and roughning at the same time. Parts B and C that can cause generation of flaws on the can cover are not treated and the surface is left smooth. In a double angle chuck, the area to be treated in an area D which is the part of fixed inclined angle in the upper part of outer periphery of the lip edge part. In a straight chuck, it is an area A 2.0W4.0mm from the lip edge 4a'.
