Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable to perform a reliable measurement of an exciting amplitude and phase of each element antenna in a total array operation state, by a method wherein a synthetic power is measured by changing a phase of a shifter being connected to each element antenna of a phased array antenna. CONSTITUTION:A signal power, generated at a transmission source 4, is distributed to each shifter 2 at a given distribution ratio by a power distributor 3, and is radiated into a space from an element antenna 1. This causes changing of a phase phin of an electric field of an n-th element to measure a change in an amplitude of a total array synthetic electric field vector. A ratio of a maximum value to a minimum value of the change in the synthetic power level and a change amount of a phase providing the maximum value of the change are found, and the relative amplitude and relative phase of the n-th element are determined from said values. This permits setting of an exciting amplitude phase, which realizes various desired radiation patterns, under a total array operating state.
