Abstract

PURPOSE:To always obtain a copy having a constant quality irrespective of varied magnification size, by varying the quantity of exposure of a picture and the quantity of light of a uniform light beam in accordance with the variation of copying magnification for cpying, and varying a gradient in case of forming a latent image in accordance with reduction or magnification size. CONSTITUTION:An electrostatic latent image forming characteristic (E-V curve) showing the relation between the secondary destaticizing simultaneous exposure quantity (E) and the surface potential (V) on the photosensitive drum is varied in accordance with size of the copying magnification. Therefore, a copy of a legible picture is obtained by correcting the E-V curve in accordance with the copying magnification. For instance, the total exposure quantity from an original at the time of secondary destaticization is decreased by reducing an iris diaphragm 7a of a lens 7 in accordance with the copying magnification 1.0, 0.7 and 0.5 (area ratio), also the quantity of light of a uniform light beam is varied to 30% from ''0'' by controlling a dimming circuit 13 of a light source 12, and the E-V curve is caried to C1, C2 and C3, by which a copy of a ligible picture is obtained.
