Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect the leakage of water in a specified section without digging out a duct by cutting and opening the both ends of a buried pipe, whose leakage of water is to be checked, at two optional points, and by sealing those opening ends and also inserting a movable leakage detector into the pipe. CONSTITUTION:Two optional points of a water service pipe 1 to be checked are determined and both the ends are cut and opened; and those opening ends are sealed and a leakage detector 2 fitted in the water service pipe in the watertight state is slidably inserted. While required hydraulic pressure is applied into the water service pipe 1 and into the leakage measuremenet room 2C of the leakage detector 2, the detector 2 is moved in the pipe 1 to detect variations in pressure in the leakage measurement room 2C, thereby detecting the leakage of water. The position is confirmed from the pipe ends to measure the position of the detector, thus detecting the position of the water leakage accurately.
