Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a long-life and highly reliable type band back-up mechanism with a reduced wearing of a back up surface by swinging a back-up member for a type bank along the band.
CONSTITUTION: As the number of printing lines reaches the set value monitoring it, an electromagnet 13 is turned on and a swing lever 10 is pulled against a force of a spring 12 so that a back-up member 7' is moved in the direction of the arrow B and retained. Then, when the number of printing lines doubles the set value, the electromagnet 13 is turned off and the lever 10 is pulled with the spring 12 so that the member 7' is moved in the direction of the arrow A. The member 7' is oscillated alternately each number of printing lines preset by repeating this action. This disperses the area on the member 7' where a printing hammer 3 impacts thereby reducing wear of the back-up surface of the member 7' due to the impact thereof. Thus, a long-life, highly reliable type band back- up mechanism.
