Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent any paper jam as well as to improve the traveling performance of paper, by maintaining a constant load applied on the drive source for vertical movement of a paper tray, regardless of the amount of paper on the tray.
CONSTITUTION: A load correcting device 6 consisting of a tension spring 7, a pulley 8 and a wire 9 is installed on the bottom surface of a paper tray 3 in the main unit 1. As the amount of paper 4 decreases as paper supply progresses, the tray 3 goes up, being driven by a drive source (omitted in the figure.), thereby forcing the paper 4 on the top end to make an overrun (h) of climb from the defined level of the transportation surface A owing to the inertia caused by lifting motion of the tray 3 and paper 4. However, the distance of overrun (h) for a reduced quantity of paper 4 is kept almost equal to that for the original large quantity of paper 4 because the load applied on the drive source can be maintained constant through the load correcting device 6, and thus a stabilized traveling performance of paper can be provided.
