Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve traveling stability as well as to reduce degree of fatigue to be sensed by a driver in such a way that caster angles are changed, and steering weight is adjusted in response to the vehicle's gross weight, traveling speed, etc. CONSTITUTION:A suspension 10 is located under the tip side of a frame 11, and integrated by air springs 12, 13 which are connected to a reservoir 32 fixed on a cross member 22, an axle 14 which is attached to these lower part, a pair of rods 15, 16 coupled at one end with pin to members 20, 21 which are fixed on a frame and at the other end with pin to the side of the axle 14, and a caster angle regulating mechanism 17 to turn the axle 14. Adjustment of caster angles is done by means of operating a change-over valve, changing an input side of compressed air or pressurized oil to be fed into a cylinder 26, shifting operating directions of a lever 25, and changing rotation of the axle 14. In case of traveling at low speed, the caster angles are made smaller while in case of traveling at high speed, they are made larger, so that feeling of steering operation adaptable to respective travelling can be obtained.
