Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the damage of a printing wire or the breakage of a ribbon yarn by specifying the direction of the weft and the warp of the ink ribbon.
CONSTITUTION: The weft and warp of an ink ribbon 11 are woven at an angle, neither parallel nor perpendicular to the length of the ribbon. In other words, yarns 17 are so arranged that groups of several parallel yarns each serve as weft and warp to compose a cloth tape. When expresed by θ and θ', the angles of the weft and warp to the length of the tape shall be 0<θ<90° and 0<θ'<90°. The cloth tape thus obtained is impregnated with ink to make an ink ribbon 11. If the printing wire 3 is caught by the weft 18, it rises along the weft 18, which is at an angle θ' to the movement of the ink ribbon 11. On the other hand, the wire 3, which is returning, separates from the ribbon 11, thereby preventing the damage of the wire 3 and the breakage of the yarn of the ribbon 11.
