Abstract

PURPOSE:To timely average the consumption of power by heads as well as reduce the peak power of drive circuit by alternately biasing the phase of driving signals for plural heads. CONSTITUTION:Sine wave formed in an oscillator 27 is put in an analog switch 23 by biasing it T/2n each (where T is the period of printing time interval for continuous dots and n is the number of heads) by means of an analog phase shifting device 28 using a bucket brigade element, etc. On the other hand, digital signal formed by an image signal generator 21 is put in the analog switch 23 by biasing it T/2n each by means of a digital phase shifting device 30 using a monostable multivibrator, etc., and switches 24-1 to 24-7 are opened or closed to form sine wave signals 25 with biased phases for driving the head. The sine wave signals are amplified by amplifiers 26-1 to 26-7 and applied to heads 1-1 to 1-7.
