Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium which has superior squareness, by using needlelike high-hardness particulate matter as an abrasive to be added to a magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:As an abrasive, needlelike particulate matter having high hardness, such as inorganic crystalline fiber made of oxide, nitride, carbide or silicide and wisker or glass fiber, or their compound is added to obtain magnetic paint, which is applied onto a base. Then, orientation treatment is performed to obtain a magnetic recording medium.
