Abstract

PURPOSE:To watch the terminating point of combustion of the garbage incinerator objectively and in a highly accurate manner by a method wherein the luminosities of combustion along a line intersecting at right angles with the transfer direction of the garbage are detected one by one and the length of a portion on the line having a luminosity exceeding a predetermined level is compared to a predetermined value. CONSTITUTION:Luminosity signals A-A', B-B' and C-C' are detected in sequence in the transfer direction of the garbage or in the direction reverse to the former direction at a position adjacent the outlet of the incinerator 1 by use of an industrial TV camera (ITV) 3 and are then inputted to an image analyzer after they are converted into air signals, respectively. Further, the luminosity signals A-A', B-B' and C-C' which have been introduced into the image analyzer in the above manner are compared to a predetermined slice level SL to thereby calculate the length of a portion of each of the signals exceeding the slice level SL and the calculated length is compared to a predetermined value, whereby the terminating point of combustion is detected by the result of such comparison.
