Abstract

PURPOSE: To attain functions of main and auxiliary liquid cooling cycling compressors with a single compressor by providing the compressor with, in addition to an intake port, a second separate intake port which is opened and closed in synchronized relationship with the compression stroke.
CONSTITUTION: A cylinder 13 has, in addition to an intake port (not shown), a second separate intake port 18 formed in a side wall thereof. A rotary valve 19 is inserted in the second intake port 18 and is connected to a gear 21 by means of a rod 20. The gear 21 is meshed with another gear 22 mounted on a crankshaft 16 such that two rotations of the crankshaft 16 will rotate the value 19 once. The intake port 18 is connected by means of a pipe to an upper gas layer of a liquid receptacle (not shown) so that it may be communicated with the inside of the cylinder at a fixed position of the compression stroke to cause gas to be taken in from the liquid receptacle. The position of the intake port 18 is selected such that, when the pressure within the cylinder 13 is raised above an intermediate pressure, a piston 14 closes the intake port 18. By such construction, a single compressor can even take in gas under an intermediate pressure.
