Abstract

PURPOSE: A relatively inexpensive resin composition for powder paint with good workability, giving a coat with good physical properties, which is obtd. by compounding a specified acrylic copolymer with a polycarboxylic acid having at least two carboxyl groups in the molecular chain.
CONSTITUTION: An acrylic copolymer (A) of number-average MW 1,000W30,000 and secondary transistor pt. 20W80°C, obtd. by the copolymn. of 55wt% or less monomer of formula I (wherein R1 is H or CH3; R2 is 1W22C alkyl) with 45wt% monomer of formula II, a polycarboxylic acid (B) of acid value 20W300 and average MW 1,000W30,000 having at least two carboxyl groups in the molecule, and an acrylic copolymer (C) of MW 2,000W100,000 and secondary transition pt. ≤20°C, obtd. by the copolymer. of 20W99.9wt% monomer of the formula I with 0.1W 20wt% monomer copolymerizable with said monomer of the formula I having a carboxyl or glycidyl group are compounded in a wt. ratio of A:B:C of 5W40:60W95: 0W5.
