Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a thermochromic material having an excellent resistance to light and moisture, consisting of 3,4,5,6-dibenzo-1,2-oxaphosphane-2-oxide, a specified polyvalent metallic compd. and a ligand capable of forming a coordinate bond with a metal.
CONSTITUTION: One mole of 3,4,5,6-dibenzo-1,2-oxaphosphane-2-oxide (A) of the formula, 20W1/20mol of at least one polyvalent metallic compd. (B) selected from the compds. of Groups IIWVI, VIIb and VIII metals of the Periodic Table (e.g. zinc chloride or titanyl acetylacetonate), and 60W1/60mol of a ligand (C) capable of forming a coordinate bond with the metals of component (B) (e.g. dimethylglyoxime) and, if desired, 1,500W1/1,000mol of a color change-adjusting agent (D) (e.g. methanol) and a pH adjustor (E) (e.g. phenol), are mixed together. The mixture is molten by heating, or dissolved in a solvent.
