Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve absorbing capacity for ink, clearness of color tone and resolution by a method wherein a coating layer containing white zinc compounds, silica or calcium carbonate, plastic pigments and aqueous high molecule adhesives is coated on the surface of a support member. CONSTITUTION:In a recording sheet in which a coating layer containing inorganic pigments, organic pigments and aqueous high molecular adhesives is coated on the surface of a support member, at least one of inorganic pigments contained in the coating layer is one or more pigments selected among white zinc compounds, silica and calcium carbonate and plastic pigments are used as organic pigments. Plastic pigments contained in the coating layer causes resolution to be improved. The reason is in that plastic pigments have proper hydrophilic property on their surfaces, each particle has therein a hydrophobic part which does not absorb aqueous vehicles, and such both structures control diffusion of ink in the lateral direction without imparing the absorbancy for ink which is very important to obtain the proper ink jet characteristic.
