Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent segregation and obtain a coagulation sample more reliable than a quenched sample formed by the conventional copper casting by coagulating a sampled molten steel by stirring electromagnetically from the surroundings of a sampling probe. CONSTITUTION:A molten steel 3 (#10 is a paper cylinder, and #1 is an inlet of the molten steel) is sampled in a quartz tube 7 in a sampling probe 2, and this steel in the probe 2 is carried and set in an electromagnetic stirring coil 6. (#5 is a transformer, and #4 is a source of electricity). Rotating magnetic field shown with an arrow 8 is applied from the surroundings of the probe 2, and the molten steel 3 is cooled and coagulated with stirring to the direction of an arrow 9. Now it is preferable that the needed time from sampling the molten steel to the completion of coagulation is 20-60sec.
