Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a corrosion inhibitor showing a very superior effect on iron by adding a specified amount of a polyetyylenepolyamine to 3,5-dimethyltetrahydro-1,3,5-(2H)-thiadiazine-2-thione. CONSTITUTION:3,5-Dimethyltetrahydro-1,3,5-( 2H )-thiadiazine-2-thione is white powder obtd. by reacting monomethylamine with carbon disulfide and formadldehyde. To the powder is added 1-100wt% of 1 or >=2 kinds of compounds selected from a group consisting of polyethylenepolyamines such as ethylenediamine, diethylenetriamine and triethylenetetramine manufactured from ethylene dichloride, ammonia and sodium hydroxide, and of distillation residue of the polyethylenepolyamines. Thus, an effective corrosion inhibitor for iron is obtd. When the inhibitor is used, it may be combined with other known corrosion inhibitor or additive.
