Abstract

PURPOSE:To simply generate a superhigh pressure as well as make the control of the pressure easier by a method in which an impact wave is applied against a substance to be treated in such a way as to apply a superhigh pressure to the substance by the interference of the impact wave. CONSTITUTION:A flyer acceleration part II, e.g., launch tube 13, etc., by which a flyer 9 present is forced to run is contacted with the diaphragm 8 of a high-pressure gas generatorI, and an impact wave generator III is provided on the outlet side of the flyer 9. The flyer 9 accelerated by the pressure of a light gas goes up in the launch tube 13, is discharged from the outlet of the impaction chamber 14, and collides against the protective cover 27 of a recovery capsule 15. Whereupon, an impact wave is produced inside a sample 25 and a superhigh pressure is generated by the interference of the impact wave. By the repeated use of such a simplified device capable of controlling pressure generated and of generating superhigh pressures, the synthesis of substances, etc., can be performed.
