Abstract
PURPOSE: To obrain the titled polystyne derivative suitable as a photoconductive material for electrophotographic sensitive materials, by reacting chloromethylated polystyrene with 4-hydroxybenzylidenebenzylphenylhydrazone.
CONSTITUTION: The purpose polystyrene derivative having a hydrazone structure, represented by formula III is obtained by reacting 1mol chloromethylated polystyrene of formulaIwith 1W2mol 4-hydroxybenzylidenebenzylphenylhydrazone of formula II in the presence of a base, e.g., potassium hydroxide or sodium carbonate, in a solvent such as N,N-dimethylformamide or dioxane. The produced polystyrene derivative of formula III has excellent mechanical and electrical propeties suitable for electrophotographic sensitive materials.
