Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled tube causing no decoloring during hot working and having high performance and quality by forming a layer having a specified copper content on a quartz glass tube from the inside to the outside direction in a specified thickness and regulating the light transmittance to a specified percentage of a standard. CONSTITUTION:A layer having a high copper concn. and >=100mum thickness is formed on a quartz glass tube from the inside to the outside direction. The copper content is adjusted to 200-1,000ppm. In case of a tungsten light bulb the transmittance of the tube is regulated to 15-40%, preferably 20-35% of that of a transparent quartz glass tube having the same thickness as a standard. Thus, a colored quartz glass tube forming color only by heat treatment and having suitable transmittance is obtd.
