Abstract

PURPOSE:To make a component part feeder applicable for various parts at low cost by inserting one end of optical fibers selectively into any one of a plurality of through holes provided on the side wall of a part transfer path according to the shape of the parts while a photosensitive element provided at the other end thereof. CONSTITUTION:Through holes 31, vertical, horizontal and the like, with numerous pitches are provided on the side wall section of a track 1a near the discharge end of a bowl 1 of a parts feeder. For example, tips of optical fibers 32a-32d are inserted into the holes 31a-31d according to the sahpe of a part m as shown by the single-dot chain line. The other ends thereof 32a-32d are connected to photoconductive elements 34a-34d connected to a control circuit 19. Detection is made on the order in which the part m intercepts the light irradiated on the through holes 31a-31d from a lamp 11 to discriminate the direction of the part m while the parts not corresponding to the specified direction are rejected. This makes the parts feeder applicable for various parts and cheaper.
