Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled extract having high antitumor activity, by extracting conducrango with a lower alcohol and a specific chlorinated hydrocarbon successively, subjecting the prepared extract to an open column, eluting it with a specified mixed solvent, reducing it, followed by fractionating by high-speed liquid chromatography.
CONSTITUTION: Condurango bark belonging to the family Marsdenia condurango Reichb is cut into thin pieces, extracted with a cold lower alcohol (e.g., methanol, etc.), and the extracted solution is concentrated to dryness to give an extract. This extract is extracted with a chlorinated hydrocarbon (e.g., chloroform etc.) except carbon tetrachloride to give an extracted solution, which is subjected to an open column, and an eluate eluted with a mixed solvent of the lower alcohol with the hydrocarbon except carbon tetrachloride, not to be eluted with the hydrocarbon except carbon tetrachloride is concentrated to give an extract. This extract is reduced with a reducing agent in methanol, and an fraction Fr-1 by high-speed chromatography is collected to give the desired extract.
