Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify the circuit of the titled detector and reduce its cost without the use of a band pass filter by using a flexible tuning bar vibrator to resonate the vibrator only with knocking frequency. CONSTITUTION:A housing 1 is fitted to the body of an internal combustion engine through a screw part 1a and vibrated uniformly together with the body. A flexible tuning bar vibrator 2 is supported and fixed on the lid of the housing by supporting members 4a, 4b. Electromechanical transducers 3a, 3b with piezoelectricity are connected to the flexible tuning vibrator 2 and also connected to a terminal 6 through a lead wire 7. The lid of the housing is provided with steps and wound to be fixed at the opening edge part 1b of the cuplike housing. Vibration at the knocking of the engine is transmitted to the housing 1 and lid 5 is also vibrated uniformly with the housing to generated flexible resonance in the tuning bar vibrator 2. The tuning bar vibrator 2 is produced so as to be almost equal to the oscillation frequency at knocking. The electromechanical transducers 3a, 3b connected to the tuning bar vibrator 2 receive distortion and generate an electric signal, which is taken out to an external device through the lead wire 7.
