Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:The physiologically active substance JCV-80 having the following characteristics: appearance, white, amorphous hygroscopic powder; solubility, soluble in water, methanol, and ethanol; UV-absorption spectrum, λmax=255W275nm; color reactions, positive to Molish reaction, etc., and negative to protein detection reaction.
USE: Biophlaxis-regulating agent such as immunoregulating agent, antitumor agent, antistress agent, autonomic nerve regulating agent, antiallergic agent, etc.
PROCESS: Tumor cell is transplanted to a warm-blooded animal (e.g., poultry such as chicken, dove, etc., mammalian such as cattle, horse, etc.) or to the cultured tissue originated from warm-blooded animal, and at the same time, the animal or the tissue is inoculated with pox virus (e.g. vaccinia virus, cowpox virus, ectromelia virus, etc.) to cause the variola. The resulted inflammatory tissue or cultured tissue is ground and subjected to the protein-removal process to obtain the biophlaxis- regulating substance JCV-80. The removal of the proteins can be carried out, e.g. by heating, irradiation with ultrasonic radiation, treatment with protein-denaturating agent, etc.
