PURPOSE:To enable to control the reception side from the transmission side, by inserting code information having no meaning as video information in the video information of data compression and controlling the reception side with this code information. CONSTITUTION:The video information per line from a reader 1 is stored in a buffer memory 2 and picked up at a data compressor 3 for coding, then it is transmitted to the reception side via a network controller 5 via an MODEM4. The transmitted video information is decoded at a data expander 11 via an MODEM10 from a network controller 9 also at the reception side, picked up to a recorder 13 from a buffer memory 12, and recorded on a recording paper. A mark detector 6 detects the specific position at read-in and scanning, and a controller 7 switches a switch SW1 to an ARQ device 8 side, controls the data compressor 3 at the same time and inserts a control signal in the video information. The reception side is controlled with this control signal.
