Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a photoelectrode of high photo-electric conversion efficiency by making at least one compound chosen out of the compounds indicated by a specific general formulas to be adsorbed and deposited on the surface of an electrode the major component of which is a molybdenum chalcogenide. CONSTITUTION:A photoelectrode the major component of which is a molybdenum chalcogenide is immersed in a solution containing a compound indicated by a general formula (I) or (II), and thereby the above compound is adsorbed and deposited on the surface of the photoelectrode. In the general formula (I) and (II): R1, R2, R3 and R4 represent hydrogen or an alkyl group with 1 to 10 carbons, and are preferably methyl group, ethyl group, propyl group or the like; R5, R6, R7, R8, R9 and R10 represent hydrogen, an alkyl group with 1 to 10 carbons, or an alkoxy group with 1 to 10 carbons, such as methyl group, ethyl group or hexyl group; X<-> represents a negative ion, such as a fluorine ion, a chlorine ion, a bromine ion or an iodine ion.
