Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare an insulating paint which is lowly environmentally pollutive, lowly toxic and highly safe, by dissolving a resin obtd. by the reaction of a polyvalent carboxylic acid or a deriv. thereof with a polyhydric alcohol in two kinds of specified solvents.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. resin presenting Gardner-Holdt viscosity ≥W or kinematic viscosity ≥10.7 St at 25°C in an m-cresol soln. contg. 40wt% resin obtd. by the reaction of a polyvalent carboxylic acid or a deriv. thereof, such as isophthalic acid, with a polyhydric alcohol, such as ethylene glycol, is dissolved in 3W70wt% solvent such as N, N-dimethyl formamide dissolving but mot decomposing the resin at a high temp. by heating at a temp. ≥200°C. After the resulting solution is cooled to 180°C, or lower, a glycol ether of the formula (wherein R is lower alkyl, aryl or aralkyl; m is 2W3; n is 1W3) is added and dissolved.
