Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve rotational rigidity while in a state of less holding axial rigidity in case of connection between drive and driven shafts of a vehicle, by interposing elastic materials, engaging and connecting engagement protrusions provided in each shaft end.
CONSTITUTION: When a steering wheel is rotated for change of the running direction of a vehicle, its rotary motion rotates an upper flange 20 and the second protrusive part 23 through the second shaft 21. Accordingly, the rotary movement is transmitted to a steering gear through the first protrusion 19, lower flange 18 and the first shaft 16 by compressing while slightly deforming a rubber bush 24. For a large turning angle, a stopper pin 29 is adapted to the upper flange 20 to increase rigidity. Further running vibration of the vehicle is transmitted to the lower flange 18 through the first shaft 16 and absorbed by the rubber 24. In this way, rotational rigidity can be increased to less hold axial rigidity.
